Traditionally, on the birthday of university, the Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University celebrates a national holiday “Sabantuy”.
An opening ceremony was held in front of the main university building; it began with the performance of the dancing group “Shkyrt” to the joyful music of the Tatar popular songs. The NCSPU Rector Alfinur Galiakberova wished the staff a wonderful festive mood and the participation in the national Tatar games and contests. The guest of the celebration Roman Nasredinov, the Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports, greeted the participants. He presented a GTO golden badge to the NCSPU Rector. Last year, Alfinur Galiakberova participated in the sporting event at the school “Yar Chally” and was awarded a GTO gold badge.
The exhibitions, which were organized in the marquees, gave a national character to the celebration. The participants were able to admire the Tatar national farmstead and a log hut of the 19th century; they had a chance to participate in various workshops.
At the sporting ground, at 11 small Maidans, the participants were competing in popular Tatar games: a tug-of-war, sacks-battles and an arm-wrestling. There were also unusual contests such as a race in galoshas. The students took part in all the contests. The international students from Egypt liked the celebration too.
The main competition was Kurash - Tatar wrestling. Traditionally, the winner became the batir, the hero of Sabantuy; he was given a ram. The winner was Rinaz Mukhametdinov, a student of the NCSPU Industrial-Pedagogical College!
