“Competitors were tough; our athletes went all out 100 percent.” NCSPU students are winners of All-Russian tournament for Russian Taekwondo Union President’s Cup

Kabardino-Balkaria became a place for the sports battles. Cherkessk hosted the All-Russian tournament for the Russian Taekwondo President’s Cup among men and women, juniors (aged 15-17), young men and girls (aged 12-14).

The taekwondo competitions were held from August 4 until August 7. Muslim Akhtaev won in the weight category up to 74kg, Anna Kazarnovskaya won a silver medal (weight category up to 57kg) and Emil Aliev won a bronze medal (weight category up to 80kg).

The students of Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University represented the Republic of Tatarstan commendably. This tournament was a qualifying round for the athletes for their further participation in the Russian Taekwondo Championship. Muslim Akhtaev’s victory granted him the participation in the tournaments which will be held on October 19, in Moscow.

According to the coach-professor Sergei Tytkin, the athletes represented 25 Russian districts in Cherkessk. Tatarstan won the fifth team place.

“The competitors were very tough; our athletes went all out 100%. Tatarstan was represented by 5 athletes; four of them are from Chelny. The first, second and third places are excellent results of the competitions; I am happy with the athletes. Because some of them were fighting outside their weight category: which, I should say, didn’t break their spirit. They gained a huge experience. Muslim Akhtaev is to prepare for the Russian tournament. Anna Kazarnovskaya and Emil Aliev are supposed to go through the qualifying round. I think they can make it! I have faith in their victories,” noted Sergei Tytkin.

The Rector of Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University Alfinur Galiakberova expressed her gratitude to the coach for the work done and congratulated the winners.
