Welcome to Tatarstan. Students from South Africa arrive in Naberezhnye Chelny
Amanda Garikayi came to Russia from Zimbabwe and got admitted to NCSPU in the RF government quota. The girl is 21 years old and she has a one year program of supplementary education “The preparation for admissions to a higher educational establishment” at Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University.
Amanda is impressed by this visit to Russia; she says that on graduation she plans to get admitted to a Russian medical university.
She answered a couple of our questions:
- Amanda, what did you know about Russia?
-I knew it is a big country. Russia occupies the territory that could locate five countries! I am amazed by the fact that RF is one big country!
-What is your impression of Naberezhnye Chelny?
-The city is small. It is beautiful, light; there are many flowers and it is green. I instantly noted it.
- What can you say about the atmosphere at the university?
-I have just arrived. The classes will start soon. But I can admit that all are friendly to me!
-What did you like most?
- The main thing – the hostel is next to the University. It is very convenient. Everything is within walking distance; shops and a drugstore. You don’t need to go far. (smiling)
-Did you come here alone? Don’t you miss home?
-I surely miss it but I knew why and where I was going.
-What Russian words have you already learnt?
- Спасибо, привет, пожалуйста, доброе утро. I hope I will learn more here at Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University.
Radik Galiullin, an Associate Professor of NCSPU Department of Russian and Tatar Philology, stated that there are more than 80 applications for the study this year:
“We are awaiting the arrival of international students from Zimbabwe, Mali, Ethiopia and Nigeria. 8 students have already arrived from Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan, Morocco and Egypt.”
Foreign citizens who don’t know Russian or have an insufficient level of Russian can do courses at NCSPU:
