Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the Minister of Education
RF Sergey Kravtsov. The Minister reported on the implementation of construction
and capital repair programs, the development of supplementary education. He said
that all the activities of the national project "Education" had been carried out on
time and all the indicators had been achieved.
"The implementation of the national project "Education": we did everything on
time, and all the indicators were met. What concerns schools, you gave
instructions to build 1,300 schools by the end of 2024, and we have exceeded them.
It is a very successful program," Sergey Kravtsov said.
Pedagogical education is actively developing thanks to the program of support for
pedagogical universities.
"Today the universities have 10 people competing for each place, the former
schoolchildren chose pedagogical universities, and today pedagogical education is
the second most popular education after information technology," said the
Minister.
"There will also be a program to overhaul secondary vocational education and
vocational colleges. You visited the innovation center in Rudnevo, you saw interest
in the eyes of the students. Indeed, today we have, one might say, a boom in
secondary vocational education: students choose working professions and get
employed. The employment rate is over 80 percent. We will continue this work and
we are setting a goal of 85 percent of the children to be employed in production
after completing college," said Sergey Kravtsov.
In conclusion, the head of the Russian Ministry of Education stressed that the
Government has begun to develop a Strategy for the development of education
until 2036 with a view to 2040.
