He is fluent both in English and Chinese. Dmitry Potapov, a graduate student at
Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University, is working on a study which
combines his professional interests in the field of education under the guidance of
his supervisor Nadezhda Markova. As part of his research, Dmitry became a
participant in the scientific seminar “Labor and education in a modern metropolis:
problems and prospects.” The event was held in the northern capital of Russia. The
topics discussed in St. Petersburg included:
- Education and cities. The present and the future.
- New forms of employment and new careers in modern metropolitan areas.
- Urban communities and their impact on the development of education and
employment.
- Global experience in the development of education and the labor market in large
metropolitan areas.
- Artificial intelligence and its role in the development of the professional sphere in
cities
- Sociological research on education and employment in cities, etc.
“This is the second time I have spoken at this conference. It was held both in an
online format and in person at the Federal Research Sociological Center of the
Russian Academy of Sciences. I was especially pleased to be among greatest
scientists, business representatives, and fellow graduate students - it is always
inspiring,” said Dmitry.
His academic career began at Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University,
where Dmitry graduated from the Faculty of History and Geography with a degree
in history teaching.
“These years have become the foundation of my professional development. I
would like to express my special gratitude to my mentors: Irina Kornilova instilled
in me not only a love for historical science, but also a strict approach to research;
Svetlana Chirkova, the former vice-rector for Educational Work, developed in me
the ability to see the relationship between education and social processes; and
Mansur Khasanov showed the practical value of academic knowledge. It was theirinspiring example and support that shaped my exploratory approach,” claimed
Dmitry.
Dmitry continued his education in Moscow, at the National Research University
Higher School of Economics, where he studied at the Faculty of Sociology under
the international program “Integrated Social Analysis.”
“The experience allowed me to master modern methods of social research and it
expanded my academic horizons,” added Dmitry.
He is now an HR director and chief risk analysis advisor at an overseas company
which specializes in education.
“I'm currently focused on business and research. I am convinced that the
knowledge gained over the years of study should find practical application. That is
why my research work is devoted to the interaction between business, the urban
environment and educational institutions in the field of HR. My future is
inextricably linked to China. For more than four years now, I have been immersed
in Chinese culture, I think fluently in English and Chinese, and I am actively
developing projects in this country,” said Dmitry.
