International students of Preparatory Department of Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University familiarize the fellow students with culture of their countries

On April 15, as part of the celebration of the International Day of Culture, the First
International Scientific and Educational Project on Russian as a Foreign Language,
“My Country”, took place at Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University.
The project was initiated and conducted by professors of Russian as a foreign
language from the Department of Russian and Tatar Philology. Participants in the
project included international students from the Preparatory Department
representing Guinea, Zimbabwe, Malaysia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Colombia, India,
Turkey, Togo, Congo, Djibouti, Uganda, and Turkmenistan.
The event served as a platform for a dialogue of cultures, where international
students presented reports on the national characteristics of their home countries,
including state, natural, and man-made symbols, landmarks, geographical features,
national holidays, cuisine, music, and traditions.
Interactive elements, such as demonstrations of national costumes, generated
particular interest among the participants. Participation in the “My Country”
project, which aims to develop public speaking skills in Russian, deepen
knowledge about the cultures of different peoples, and strengthen friendly ties
between students from around the world, helps international students not only
improve their Russian language proficiency but also feel like part of a
multinational university community.
Each participant had the opportunity to speak in front of their fellow students and
professors and answer questions. This format contributed not only to the
development of language competencies but also to fostering a respectful attitude
toward cultural diversity.
For international students, this is also an opportunity to showcase their talents and
feel the support of the university. For students and faculty of Naberezhnye Chelny
State Pedagogical University, it is an opportunity to broaden their horizons andlearn more about the traditions and cultures of African and Asian countries.
The organizers noted the high level of interest among international students in the
event and plan to make the International Scientific and Educational Project on
Russian as a Foreign Language, “My Country”, an annual tradition, expanding its
format and attracting even more participants.

life and contribute to the development of intercultural dialogue!
The regular holding of such projects helps create an open and modern educational
space where every student can express themselves, share the culture of their
country, and feel part of a multinational community.
