Worldwide “Tatarça Diktant” (Dictation in the Tatar Language) Campaign to Take Place from April 24 to 26

From April 24 to 26, the worldwide educational campaign will be held across the
globe. The event is aimed at testing proficiency in the Tatar language and
promoting the native language.
The campaign brings together schoolchildren, students, teachers, scholars, cultural
figures, journalists, as well as representatives of other nationalities studying the
Tatar language. The event is voluntary and free of charge. Everyone can
participate, regardless of age, gender, education, or profession.
This year, the campaign will be held for the eleventh time and will be dedicated to
the 140th anniversary of the birth of the great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay. His work
has had a profound influence on the development of the Tatar language, literature,
and national identity.
The project is being implemented in accordance with the state program of the
Republic of Tatarstan “Preserving the National Identity of the Tatar People” and is
aimed at preserving and developing the native language, culture, and traditions.
The campaign was first held in 2016 on the initiative of the World Forum of Tatar
Youth and creative Tatar activists. In its early years, it took place only in Tatarstan
and a few regions; today, the campaign unites Tatars living in 26 countries and 73
regions of Russia.
The campaign offers three levels of participation: beginner, intermediate, and
advanced. This structure allows each participant to take a test that matches their
language proficiency.
The event is held in two formats: offline - at specially organized venues (schools,
universities, cultural centers, libraries) and online - via the official
website diktant.tatar. The dictation will be broadcast on the TV channels “TNV-
Tatarstan” and “TNV-Planeta,” as well as on the official campaign website.
The organizers of the campaign are the World Congress of Tatars, the WorldForum of Tatar Youth, the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan,
Kazan Federal University, and the “Yana Gasyr” Broadcasting Company. Partners
include the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan and the
Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan.
