From March 16 to April 6, Altai State Pedagogical University held the 5th All-
Russian Olympiad “My Choice Is English” for students studying English as a
second speciality. The event was initiated by the Department of Foreign Languages
of Altai State Pedagogical University.
The Olympiad brought together students from various regions of Russia who are
studying English as a second specialty. Participants had to complete two
challenging stages. The first round consisted of online testing, which assessed
knowledge of grammar, vocabulary, and various types of language skills. The
second stage was creative: students prepared videos on “Strengthening the Ties
That Bind”. In their works, contestants reflected on the unity of the peoples of
Russia, mutual assistance, and solidarity in modern society. The jury noted the
high level of substantive content and artistic execution of many videos.
Based on the results of the two rounds, Valeriya Uvarovskaya, a 2nd-year student
of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology was awarded a 3rd degree diploma.
The winner's supervisor, Guzel Sadrieva, PhD in Philological Sciences and
Associate Professor of the Department of Romano-Germanic Languages and Their
Teaching Methods, received a letter of appreciation.
It should be noted that students of Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical
University traditionally take part in the Olympiad “My Choice Is English”,
consistently demonstrating commendable results. The organizers emphasize that
interest in the event is growing, and the remote format allows reaching even more
talented future educators from the most distant corners of the country.
We congratulate Valeriya and her scientific supervisor on their well-deserved
award.
