“50 years of Victory.” Schoolchildren and vocational college students are invited to participate in international scientific and educational project “Icebreaker of Knowledge”

On April 28, Moscow held the official launch of the seventh season of the
international scientific and educational project “Icebreaker of Knowledge”. A
competitive selection process has been announced for schoolchildren and students
of vocational colleges and technical schools aged 14 to 16 The winners of the
project will take part in an expedition to the North Pole aboard the nuclear
icebreaker “50 Years of Victory”. Registration is open on the website until May
25 The project is implemented with the support of the Rosatom State Corporation
and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
In the seventh season, participants will compete in three thematic tracks: “Seeker”,
“Creator”, and “Master”. It is noted that representatives from all federal districts of
our country will take part in the expedition for the first time.
“This year, a separate track, 'Master,' has been included in the 'Icebreaker of
Knowledge' competition for the first time. It will bring together students from
vocational colleges and technical schools. I would like to note that this decision is
an important step in strengthening the prestige of working-class professions and
implementing a strategy for advanced personnel training for high-tech industries.
Today, adjusters, specialists in digital production systems, and other
representatives of working professions are in unprecedented demand,” commented
Sergei Kravtsov, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation.
Ninety-six children who show the best results in the online selection stages of the
“Icebreaker of Knowledge” will take part in in-person regional semi-finals. They
will have to cope with practical tasks and demonstrate knowledge of nuclear
energy, quantum technologies, nuclear medicine, and the sustainable development
of the Arctic.
“The 'Icebreaker of Knowledge' opens up the world of modern science, engineering, and high technologies for curious children. In the Year of Unity of the
Peoples of Russia, representatives from all federal districts of our multinational
country will go on the expedition. This is especially symbolic, as representatives of
all peoples of Russia have contributed to domestic science, and the achievements
of the nuclear industry are one of the clearest proofs of this. Many finalists from
past seasons have already become students at Rosatom's key universities. It is
important for us that the 'Icebreaker of Knowledge' is forming a future personnel
reserve for high-tech sectors of our country,” noted Alexei Likhachev, Director
General of Rosatom State Corporation.
In the final selection round, which will take place in June 2026 in Moscow, two
teams from each of the eight federal districts of Russia will compete.
Together with the Russian winners, schoolchildren from 22 countries in Europe,
Asia, Latin America, and Africa will travel on the expedition to the North Pole.
The “Icebreaker of Knowledge” expedition is scheduled for August 2026
The scientific and educational project “Icebreaker of Knowledge” is organized
with the support of the Rosatom State Corporation. It is aimed at popularizing
natural science disciplines and nuclear industry technologies, searching for and
supporting talented and gifted children, developing their abilities, and providing
career guidance.
