In the run-up to the 2026/27 academic year, the Russian Ministry of Education's
project "Russian Teacher Abroad" received 840 applications from educational
organizations, 344 of which were for specialists in mathematics, chemistry,
biology, and physics.
"Today, high-quality science education is one of the key development priorities for
many countries. Our teachers possess a high level of training and all the necessary
competencies to pass on their knowledge and best educational practices. Forty-
one percent of applications to the 'Russian Teacher Abroad' project are for
teachers of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. This is higher than last
academic year, when the share of science teachers was 37.4%. I am confident that
participation in the project will allow our specialists not only to contribute to
strengthening humanitarian ties with friendly countries but also to realize their
professional potential," commented Sergey Kravtsov, Minister of Education of the
Russian Federation.
In 2026, there also remains high demand for teachers of Russian as a foreign
language: 146 applications, or 17.4% of the total requests, were submitted for these
vacancies.
It should be noted that at the start of the academic year, 791 teachers from the
"Russian Teacher Abroad" project - which is implemented by the Center for
International Cooperation, subordinate to the Ministry of Education - are planning
to travel to work in educational institutions across 30 countries.
The highest interest in natural science teachers for the 2025/26 academic year
came from schools in CIS countries. The leading positions in attracting Russian
subject teachers continue to be held by Uzbekistan, where specialized Mendeleev
schools operate, as well as Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
Education under Russian educational programs helps schoolchildren gain a solidknowledge base in natural sciences, and in the future increases their chances of
admission to leading Russian and foreign universities.
