Polina Kordykova, a student and poet, presented her solo performance to public

The cultural and educational platform “Metro” presented a solo performance to the public; the student of the NCSPU Faculty of Philology Polina Kordykova read her poems.

Polina Kordyukova is twice the winner of the All-Russian literary contest “The swans above Chelny”, the winner of the municipal Festival “Magic pen”, the winner of the International literary contest “Triumph”, Fellow of the literary prize named after Sazhida Suleimanova and the author of the collections of poems “On a tightrope”.

The director of the performance was Polina . The main line was defined as a “little” life in verses. The story was about the dreams, fears and hopes. Every part of the performance was accompanied by the songs written by Diana Apisarova.

In the discussion, the poet told us how the idea of a solo performance had come about.

Polina Kordyukova:

-I have been haunted by this idea for a long time; to be more precise, by the idea to make a performance. But a classical format of such parties didn’t suit me. I wanted more than questions and recitation. One day, a poet Svetlana Letyaga gave her solo performance at the Organ Hall. We knew each other and I was into literature then, too. Her performance, as far as I remember, produced a great impression on me and I decided I needed that too. Then I was offered to hold a performance at “Metro” and I agreed.

- What did you want to convey to the audience?

- First of all, I wanted to open my heart and tell them what was in my heart and what happened to my heart. I tried to convey it using a bizarre format and involving the spectators. It is difficult for me too to perceive poetry by ear; especially, if it is the poetry belonging to a pen of one writer. So I decided to diversify the performance, add more dynamics but not to forget about the lyricism. I tried to combine theatricality and honesty; the former one was in priority. I hope I managed it.

- What poems did you select, what topics?

- I took my favourite and those that I personally like less than others: the ones that suited the scenario. The most important thing in the show was that everything boiled down to love, faith, hope for the future continuation of life and its real beginning. This solo performance was about growing up, a personality growth, a feminine personality, the preparation for huge challenges which are harder than broken hearts and knees.

The performance was about the emergence of poetry in a tiny spikelet which represents a lyrical heroine; about the necessity to transcend poetry to the world. The song writer from Chelny Diana Apisarova took part in the performance too. Her songs fitted my confession perfectly.

The title of the performance also suited me perfectly. It is a line from my poem.

- What are your impressions?

- I should honestly say I was slightly shocked. It was a huge step for me, a new height. From time to time something went wrong during the performance but my audience was pleased despite those pitfalls; I saw they were with me. It was my debut, my experience; it was not perfect to the full but it was beautiful because I made it!

- Do you plan anything new in this area?

- Sure. Moreover, I will present my show at the House of Culture “KAMAZ”. We have been preparing for it.

- In general, I liked this format and people will enjoy it more than just poetry reading.
